Internal Report No.2 – Glorious $ 5 Plan

Wood morning Comrades. Is report of victory in Glorious $ 5 Plan.

Polikarpov I-15 glorious Soviet fighter plane now complete and ready for display at Uszhitmi Air Display as soon as cows driven from field and mud dry up. Hero workers cheer valiantly as aircraft put on truck for transport to show. To valuable to risk flying there.

Finish of Mr. Hobby Color aluminium silver spray most gratifying to coverage but must remember to spray close and fast or dried specks appear. Paint not need thinner to give good spray through .03 nozzle. Also not touch after spray until overspray of Humbrol Clear Cote protect finish. But all good.

Happy to report that wings fit and interplane struts need only little sanding to also fit. Have selected Independent Moscow Air Defence Regiment colours and glad to have done so for important reason. Important reason is purge required for makers of waterslide decals of ICM company.

Decal look good on sheet of paper. When soak in water, decal fracture almost immediately – undoubtedly due to counter-revolutionary worker sabotage. Or to decal film being too thin. Soviet star of 1937 should have 5 points…not 3 1/2…

Situation saved by covering remaining decal on paper sheet with Micro Decal Film in two coats, then cutting them close to design and carefully floating onto wings and fuselage. With additional strength all stars and tail number safely transferred.

Decal makers taken into custody and sent for re-education in salt mine. Not expected to return any time soon. Suggest buying decal from Czechs next time.

Note  – Polikarpov I-15 now in gloss final coat as is going to Air Display. Probably too heavy to fly, but look good beside Glorious Leader for press coverage.
