Mr. Hallelujah

My interest in, and respect for, the products of the Creos GSI corporation is steadily growing. Their ” Mr. ” line of paints, thinners, surfacers, tools, and accessories is extensive and is available in may hobby shops here in Perth – including my favourite: Hobbytech. Of course they are not alone in the paint aisle as every month seems to see a new range of paint from someone…but I am discovering that the ” Mr. Hobby ” items are a good thing and am thinking of sticking to them.

But the problem up until now has been communications; you can buy a bottle of Mr. Whatever, but unless you can guess what it does, or read Japanese, you are out of luck. The English information on their packaging is minimal. Not much help when you are standing in an aisle with 10 different paint makers’ racks.

Then tonight I idly Googled up Mr. Hobby Thinners and read down the page until I found the following pdf:

And it’s all there, Folks. In glorious colour and good English. All the colours in the solvent and aqueous ranges, all the surfacers and cements and masking agents. All the tools and compressors and airbrushes and strange little accessories that you wondered about. Plus they have spelled out the compatibilities and incompatibilities of their products – you can plan out what to use and understand why you need it.

Of course this still argues the problem of actually getting the stuff into the shops…but armed with knowledge you can order things in. And if the locals can’t supply it, there are English-speaking shops in Tokyo that can send an airbrush here in two weeks.

I’ve copied the pdf, placed it in my digital asset file, and have been studying it diligently. Who says you can’t get good things off the internet?
