Modellers take warning.

Have you ever looked at the box art of the plastic kits and wondered at the meteorology of it all? I took some time last week to survey the skies displayed inside the kit aisle of Hobbytech and found that they were predominantly yellow. Well, three colours, actually; yellow, orange, and lurid.

‘Twas always thus. I remember the kits of the fifties and sixties – here’s a few – and the weather conditions were no better then.

I suspect that there was either a widespread eye disease amongst illustrators…or they were all drunks who never got up out of bed until sunset.

Of course this could all have had to do with the colour yellow attracting the eye of the customer – more so even than the contents of the box. It attracted mine, and I was not a devotee of fine art at the time.
