Al’s retired and Vera knows it – because he is hanging around the house all day. Not that he does much to make it look better – he’s content that it had a coat of paint on the trim when he built it and doesn’t see where he needs to go mad with a paintbrush now.

Al is actually Oleksiy but that did not survive long when he went through Immigration and he tried to make them understand how it was spelled. Vira has long since grown used to spelling her name with an “e”. They only speak Ukrainian with each other in the house these days as the kids have all moved away. They stopped doing it outside during the Cold War as there was far too much explaining to do.
Being close to the grocery store suits them as Al doesn’t grow that much in the back yard any more. Of course there are always the cucumbers and the tomatoes and rutabagas and cabbage and carrots, but he doesn’t grow much any more. No more chickens and pigs since the neighbours moved in. Well, not many of them, that is.

Are the Andrichuks worried about the radar station just over the fence? Does the noise of the planes at the nearby Wet Dog Regional bother them? Not a bit. Neither of them put batteries into their hearing aids unless the kids come to visit and if they bring the grandchildren with them the batteries come out again.
This is the first house from the new modelbuildings.org downloads. I reckon the price of it to be upwards of $ 8.00, which is pretty steep for me. I am going to have to look into getting free glue and printer ink to reduce that cost. You can’t go mad when you’re retired…
Yes, it will have fencing and Al’s garden eventually.
