The decision must be taken – and in this case the materials available for the job have decided me. The AW will be all-black.
Before it will be so, It will be all grey, of course. In this case the undercoat is Mr. Surfacer 1000. This, or the Mr. Surfacer 1200, is my preferred undercoat for dark colours. Mr. Base White deals with silvers, reds, and yellows. I would have resorted to the Tamiya undercoats in spray cans as being some of the best in the hobby, but my Mr. Hobby single action airbrush makes such economical use of the jars that I now use it exclusively.

However, having discovered the Mr. Color spray cans of Satin Black, I intend to use them for any night bomber finishes in the future. They give a perfect coat with minimal trouble. There is the inevitable overspray that you get with a pressure can, but the results justify the wastage.
