Brewster Burmuda – Part Five – The Germ Of An Idea

Or ” Having A Gas Of A Time In Alberta “.

I found out what the Bermuda was doing in Suffield. It was airframe number FF 568 from the Brewster factory and it was one of three that were flown up to Canada. One apparently crashed at Dorval in Quebec, but FF 568 got out to the prairies.

Turns out that Suffield was, and is, a research station concerned with chemical and biological warfare. The Bermuda was apparently used to experiment with spraying agents over a battlefield. Don’t know if that means gas or germs, but it certainly makes for an interesting story to include with the model. I think I will put some stains under fuselage and let people get nervous.

It also suggests some rather grisly ideas for incorporation in the RCAF WET DOG dioramas. Perhaps a ring of OO-scale dead cattle around the tarmac or an ambulance for the crew transport…
