IAI Kfir C-1 – Part Four – Clean And Neat Lion Cub

Pardon any typographical errors in this post, but I have just finished two days of decalling and I am now waiting by the side of the road for the wagon from the asylum to pick me up. I shall send the bill for treatment to Cartograf.

The Italeri Kfir is ready for the clean section of the Schmattarim museum – as befits a modern-ish fighter. Of course the finish is flat, and after a few months in the sun it will get flatter. At present you can see through the canopy…

The fighters at the other Israeli air museum at Hatzerim are in various states of repair, but I note from internet pictures that IAF is not worried about displaying them with fuel tanks and weapons still mounted. One hopes the rockets and bombs have been rendered inert. In that spirit I have left the missile racks empty but hung a ferry tank from the centre point.

I was also wondering at the part of the Italeri instruction sheet that seemed to call for the main gear doors to be buttoned up even when the gear is down. Hatzerim pictures showed the doors open and down, so I went with this as better reference. To be accurate, in some instances they did not seem to be open evenly, but as this is a fresh display, I didn’t replicate this. If I can locate a Super Mystere or Ouragon I’ll make them suitably dilapidated.

Next venture for the museum will be to get some bottles of Phil Flory’s clay wash to act as a weathering agent and show up panel lines.
