Vickers Delta Mk III – Part Five – Not Quite Ubiquitous

I realised that this Delta is the third example of this aircraft to come from the Little Workshop. I am horrified to realise that it may not be the last. If I continue at this rate I will be as guilty as the man with eight Fieseler Storchs…

This state of affairs is, as usual, occasioned by the blasted internet. It has thrown up a picture of the Northrop Delta 1 that I started with, but in the civil guise as first received in Australia. It is shiny silver with the registration VH-ADR. It subsequently became the RAAF example I first built, but in this early form is much more handsome – it has full spats.

And I have learned how to conquer the Special Hobby Delta spats and wheel suspension.

So I guess it’s another order to Metro…unless Hobbytech have an example in stock locally. It will be a strictly OOTB build, as every blessed thing I need is in there save the call letters. And they are probably available in the aftermarket anyway – at least on an assorted sheet.

Not quite ubiquitous? Well, not everyone got Deltas – but a fair few airlines did operate them. I think that there are some Azur kits that celebrated this with Swedish or Spanish markings on one of the early marks. I know I shouldn’t, but I’ll keep an eye out for them on the aftermarket shelves.
