I am half-way pleased and half-way annoyed. The trim stripe on the Fokker F-27 went down in two coats over and between flexible Tamiya tape. It had a lot of sealing and dodging to do, that tape – and I expect it did it as well as could be expected
But the first coat of red paint was a little bit liquid, and ran though to some of the panel lines on the white. Not just one or two but a good dozen or so. I had failed to seal the edge of the tape – as people are always advising me to do – with either clear or the base colour. That, and the solvent of the paint did the damage.
I recovered from it somewhat by re-scribing the panel lines and then flowing some white paint into them. They are acceptable for a plane that is in service.
I will learn to do the correct sequence and not to over-thin paint for the next time.
