Mitsubishi Peggy – Part Seven – Payday!

The gamble paid off! The wheel spun and the ball landed on my number and I got to rake in all the chips!

Or in more staid terms, the pre-shading trick seems to have worked for the Mitsubishi bomber I’m building. I cannot claim invention – only emulation. But I seem to have hit upon a valuable advance in my painting technique.

The two versions of the black line – airbrush and fine liner pen – also give different results – the former subtler and the latter more more defined. I think a combination of the two lines in future builds will give a great variety of delineation to the planes.

It’ll be most noticeable, of course, in lighter-toned areas. The grey underside is much easier to see. I still like the upper works, however. I also experimented with these two Mr. Color paints in using the Mr. Color regular thinner instead of the levelling kind. The coats were to be sprayed so thinly that I expected them to dry almost instantaneously – so it proved. I just kept moving to fresh areas as I laid them down. The bottom took three thin colour coats – the top four.

As this is a club build it has had almost a full week to dry from this painting session – it should be fine to decal. Even though the colour finish is semi-gloss I am still going to risk the Hinomara on it – they rarely silver on me.
