Caudron C-635 – The Blue French Gem

To be specific; Bleu Baltique Metallique.

This is the only post for this build – because I forgot to picture the early stages of it. They were fast ones – this Heller kit has only 34 pieces. But how lovely they are.

The plane itself is a light aircraft of the 1930’s – purchased in quantity by the the French air force and Air Bleu. Thus was a private venture that moved air mail around France for several years using these aircraft.

Had it been me, I would have gutted it of all seats save the pilot’s and made dedicated bins for the postal bags. As it is the interior is red leather (!) and gorgeous.

The kit fit together really well, the blue paint ( a mix of Mr. Color lacquers ) went on flawlessly, and I had enough patience to avoid fingerprinting it. Even the decals were superb.

I have heard people complain about Heller kits for some ill-defined reason. I think this one was splendid and the Heller-derived French bomber also under construction bids fair to be just as good – in a horrible French inter-war way. I welcome more.

I have reserved enough Baltic Blue to paint another plane. I must see what other ships they flew.
