Is there any need to paint it?
Yes there is. Bare green plastic is just that… you can see a mile away when someone puts a model out for display that hasn’t been painted. That’s fine and dandy if it is a display of production models that lets the customers see what it looks like in the box – or if you are 8 years old and can’t afford paint. I make no judgement, having been there.
But if you’re a grown up playing with toys, at least paint them up before you get down on the floor and make Zoom Zoom noises. They’ll look better for it and people won’t be in such a rush to sign your commitment papers.

I had to pause in the subassembly work to wait for the workshop to cool. It was an Australian summer day and once the temperature in the tin shed reaches 40º Celsius the paint doesn’t spray well. Neither does the painter. All is well after dark, and I had enough subassemblies ready to make a pot full of Olive Drab worthwhile.
