Dornier Do.17 E – Part Four – The Special Paint Again

The Dornier Do.17 E was been prepared for the colour coats and I decided to try the pre-shading trick with the black lacquer again. This time I used a gloss paint in much the same way that matt black was used on the Mitsubishi Peggy. I cannot say that the gloss is better than the matt – as long as it shows somewhat under the top coat all is well.

In the event, I think I was a little thick with the Duck Egg Green paint on the underside as little of the shading is evident.

The top side of No.7 Brown is beautiful, however, so I just have to make sure I thin lacquers and reduce the air pressure as much as possible.

And I couldn’t resist giving the engine covers a bit of polished metal. Must give the ground crew something to do of an afternoon.
