Just the one picture of Boston MkIII AL468 in the sunshine – because that was not the place for it. It was after dark when this RCAF intruder did its business under the guidance of Squadron Leader Burton-Giles. He shot down a Ju-88 and earned the swastika mark under the Canadian maple leaf on the port side of the nose.
The daylight picture and some of the night ones are quite interesting in that the squadron code – TH-O appears to be be black. In reality, as a searchlight photo shows, they were painted dark red. A trick of the light.
Whatever small flaws this Special Hobby kit may have had , they are all forgiven in the final result. Straight off the colour call-out it is exactly what I wanted for my collection. But I’ll let the crew speak for themselves…

” Welcome to Essen! No good trying to black out when you’re running a steel mill, eh Skipper? “

” Just bank a little right over the river and…”

” Aaaaak. That’s where the spotlights are. Jink, you fool! Put down that comic book and fly the thing! “

And now everybody wakes up! Let’s go home. Break out the sandwiches…”
