Revell Brewster Buffalo – Part One – Baggie Of Doom

They make a joke about the Shelf Of Doom on the Flory show…but we all know of kits that are headed there no matter what we do. The little Revell baggie containing the F2A model looked to be a prime example.

It had resided in a hot and cold attic for decades before my friend Paul donated it to me. It started out as an English Revell moulding and eventually hit New Zealand and then Western Australia. The heat and atmosphere had taken its toll – look at the wing…

Well, the rest of the model was in better shape and not bad for a 50¢ baggie – a product of the day. I read the detailed and comprehensive instructions ( yok, yok ) and discarded the decal sheet instantly but dived for Google to see who I could plaster this Buffalo on. The unlucky candidate turned out to be the East Indies Dutch. They seem to have been the butt of a number of aeronautical jokes and this was as good an example as any.

We’ll see if the Mynheers can laugh as hard as Revell did…
