Mirage F.1C – Part Three – Like Webster’s Dictionary

Or Hope and Crosby…We’re Morocco-bound.

Why Morocco? Never been there myself – never expect to visit. Wish them well and hope they do not slide off the edge of Africa into the Atlantic ocean. But their chief advantage to me is their choice of Dassault fighter planes – they fly the Mirage F.1C.

They also have a rather simple tail flash and roundel. Both designs are self-contained and can be reproduced on an inknjet printer. They have the additional attraction of being small. The Royal Moroccan Air Force follows the US convention of two fuselage roundels but only one on the upper surface of the port wing and one on the undersurface of the starboard one. There are a few white panels that can be hand painted to complete their scheme.

This is no mean consideration. Inkjet paper is as scarce as hen’s teeth just now and until an order arrives from NSW I have to eke out the few scraps I have. This means taping bits of paper to carrier sheets and trying to drag it through the Epson R3000 with fingers crossed. I’m happy to say that I got enough to do the deal.

I suspect that The Royal Moroccan Air Force is the Armée de l’Aire in all practical matters so I’ll also sling on the Matra missiles that came as part of the kit. I’ve no idea who they have to fire them at, but this is Africa and I’m sure someone needs an AA missile up the wazoo occasionally.
