Bristol Bulldog – Part Five – Plan Out The Paint

And I nearly didn’t.

I was going along well with the painting and decaling of the Bulldog when I noticed that I’d jumped a gun – the instruction sheet showed the underwing report code being put on before the bomb racks. I’d long cemented and painted in the racks before I noticed this.

Fortunately the code decal could be positioned dry and the offending portion for the racks cut out with a sharp knife. Once the practice bombs are on there you’ll never see this.

I trust Airfix decals, but I still gave the wings and fuselage a clear coat over the silver anyway. I was rewarded by perfect transfer and lay-down with no silvering. The final coat was a 50/50 semi-gloss Mr. Color varnish…though i think the MicroScale product equally as good when you get to the end of the trail.
