CAC Boomerang – Part Four – Green And White

Readers of this column may be wondering why I build so few Australian aircraft.

It is not that I dislike them – it is just that I know so little of them that I fear making errors. I know that other modellers are much more accurate and I respect their judgement. Yet I would not have missed this little fighter for worlds.

The scheme chosen was suggested by the DK decal sheet and the actual markings went on flawlessly. The experts will probably say that the green colour is the wrong shade, but then they say that about every RLM shade ever made, and Olive Drab can cause fistfights…

The model is weighty – the whitemetal contributes to that. The fit of nearly everything is acceptable, if not quite good. I should be prepared to match it to the old Airfix offering any day. And as far as the Special Hobby or other Czech versions – this was as accurate a fit anyway.

My grateful thanks to Derek for this gift.
