Sopwith Triplane – Part One – Beige Baggie

My next PaulPlane is another Revell baggie from storage in his shed. This one has escaped the effects of the heat and even the decals look viable.

It is also going to be the subject of another new experiment – I have had luck with rigging older planes so far with rubber string and thin brass rod – now it is the turn of Evergreen plastic rod. This plane has easier struts than some to attach so it might be a good platform for a new technique.

The beige plastic is pure Revell and the flash is courtesy of the New Zealand subsidiary that turned it out in the 70’s. The previous PaulPlanes baggies were very successful from this unpromising platform – I am comfortable with starting it.

The instructions are surprisingly well preserved, as are the decals. It’s to be a famous plane but the basic scheme is easy enough and as long as the decals deliver the plane name, all will be well.

The pilot, unfortunately, seems to be wearing a bone dome helmet. An odd choice.
