PAINT!

Never mind eating or washing or sleeping. The temperature has become cooler, there is no wind , and the humidity is low. Get out there in the shed and spray for your life.

Being a scale model builder in Western Australia is a peculiar life. We are marginally more dependent upon the weather than a sailor or a farmer, and we spend far more than they do to arrive at a condition of no profit.

We are not celebrated in song or legend…even in our own minds…and the only thing that keeps our families from removing us to an institution is the laziness of the law. It is a hard existence.

But we know our business, and we know when it is served by prompt action. I am taking a painty-fingered break from the shed to type this ( to the detriment of the keyboard…) while the bottom of a plane dries. Then it’s over on the landing gear and the top gets the show finish. And I’ve brigaded up a row of other kits that need a spray while spray is possible.

It’s the Newcastle Song of hobbies – you never let a chance go by…
