One of our club mates passed away and the club became the repository for his stash and spares collection. It was the most daunting pile of plastic I have ever seen, and I have taken a lesson from it. I am going to build more and buy less – and have already started to sort and organise my spares boxes.
Thus I was able to access the parts needed to make up for the Academy CF-104’s hollow fuselage. No engine there, but I could at least mask off the air brake panels and wheel wells. There were plenty of curved panels in the unused airframe box to do this.
The nose well hole yielded to a piece of Evergreen square tubing, and quite frankly is a better wheel well than many provided on other kits. I’m still not the sort of super-detailler that rigs hydraulic lines in 1:72nd holes.
Once plugged up, the whole of the manned missile got a coat of Mr. Surfacer 1200 Shocking Pink. It is due to disappear under silver, white, and orange-red and presumably these shades will be enough to cover the bordello look of it.
And where would we all be without the alligator clips on the wires?
