The Big Local Scale Model Exhibition – Part Three – The Prize-Giving

Most prize ceremonies I attend are sort of add-on affairs for me. I am never entered for any contests, and unless I have been asked to judge something, the events go off without any personal input.

Yet, it is nice to see people rewarded for their efforts, Scale modellers spend months making their contest entries and are probably quite anxious all during the exhibition over what judgement will be rendered upon them. It’s like having your kids on show at the local school.

Well, the contests at the scale model exhibition were many-fold. There seemed to be a large number of categories into which an individual model could entered based upon type, size, and degree of extra parts used. As well, there were junior and senior classes to separate the efforts, and a new category this year of builds that had involved more than one person’s efforts.

The visitors to the place got a chance to decide on a publicly popular winner – both for the individual models and for the club tables.

So there were plaudits aplenty for those who sought them.

One of the chaps who organised our club table got two prizes for different models entered and our club table came a third in the best-vote. A commendable feeling.
