In the service of Soviet humanity…

This is the second air ambulance I have constructed, and by far the most ambitious one. It was born of necessity and nurtured on the makeshift – just as well there was a solid foundation of simple airframe to support it. The use of air ambulance transport by definition is for desperate cases, and this could not have been an easy service to maintain or survive.

The basic scale model was not cheap, but the result at the end is every bit the reward I had hoped for. The only regret is the absence of any crew members. The after-market sector is poorly represented in our local shops so we miss out on these sorts of finishing touches. I can only hope that they will come in the future, and I can put someone in the seats.

I shall also look for a suitable WW2 Soviet ground ambulance to use as a part of the display. I’m sure there should be some – it is just a case of catching the kits as they are imported. They rarely return after one appearance.
