Go easy on the toilet paper, willya?
The cheapest repair shop in Alberta is located round the Ess Bend. Wayne and Gordie specialise in fixing things that other people won’t touch and if you’re smart, you won’t touch the stuff afterwards, either. They are the favourite shop for the less prestigious museums and collections as they charge very little and most of their welding will not break apart soon.
To help equip the shop I have located a set of mobile workshop tools made by Mini Art in 1:35 scale. They are not as flash as the die-cast shop sets available for collectors in 1:24 and 1:18, but they have the advantage of being tiny little kits in themselves.
I always say that whatever you build should be built as a deliberate job – not just a slap-together. We have enough of that in furnishing our homes from flat-pack shops.
The tools and furniture in the Mini Art pack are European wartime types, but as these do not change all that much in small premises, they will be fine. I’m on the lookout for further kits from this Ukrainian firm, but that’s sorta problematical at the present.
More furnishings will come into being as I find them or scratch-build them. I am grateful to be spared the prices of ready-made goods in the OO and HO scales – our local shops do have some lovely items, but you want deep pockets to make the wonderful little scenes the magazines promise.
