Revell Sopwith Camel – Part Three – Putt Putt Putty

If you are averse to the plastic arts you would do well never to panel-beat a motor car, plaster a wall, or build an old Revell kit.

Because at some stage of the game you are going to be sitting there with a bricklayer’s towel and half a hundredweight of plaster, bog, or Mr White Putty on your wooden palette. You will start out neat and artistic and end up flicking bits of it onto the top of the ceiling fan. And nearly every bit you trowel on, you’ll be sanding off. Eventually you’ll be able to do your own makeup for The Phantom Of the Opera.

The only saving grace in this largely graceless kit is the fact that the big-putty areas are flat surfaces. Once you’ve filled them to the proper depth you can file them down and finish. The underside actually looks quite pleasant under a cream linen.
