TKS Tankette – Part Four – Grim and Grey

Well, I’ll say this for the little tankette – the tracks may have been hideous, but the final thing with a bit of grime and wash is a bit rewarding.

Those who wonder at the lack of any insignia may wish to google up the topic of these devices captured by the German army. I have a photo of one lonely example on a flatcar with nothing at all painted on it. They may not have considered it worth the effort. In any case, there it is in fairly clean condition.

The people who have seen the previous TKS will note the increased armament and the fact that it is encased in an armoured mantlet. To their credit, the makers of the kit have provided one that lets the gun swivel quite well. They also tried to tempt the builder by having the top hatches as separate items, but I have the other one opened fully and do not need to do it here.

The whole thing has a certain Liliputian charm, for a deathtrap. I should pack them with explosives and point them at the enemy, hoping he would capture them just before the fuses burned down.

Grim and grey it may be, but I reckon I got my dollar’s worth.
