Was Lacquer Thinner Good For Covid?

I had no idea, but one week I tested it out.

I went down in iso with a positive RAT and a number of kits in the stash that needed paint. They had gone through the preliminary stages and were ready for primer and paint. And I did not intend to let a spare week slip through my fingers.

I was cautious – the big respirator mask was be a comfort during the spray sessions – and the actual spraying time was dictated by atmospherics and temperature anyway. But I didn’t intend to waste the sunny, dry patches.

People with no mental or hobby resources must have found an isolation period very trying. If they were addicted to crowds and taverns and big parties, they were faced with a problem – they couldn’t be by themselves.

Scale modellers had no problems – even if they were serial rather than parallel builders. There was always something that needed to be done. The only impediment was cement or paint setting times. Other than that we cut, painted, and cemented all day and didn’t look outside.

If we had been foolish virgins and not bothered to trim our lamps, we could expect to be cast into outer darkness. Likewise, if we had not built up a sufficient stash to carry us through this crisis, we were going to have to fee some Samaritan to go to the hobby shop and bring succour. The only danger of this was if they do not know the difference between a Mk II and a Mk III and brought back the wrong kit. It was best to ring ahead and get the owner of the shop to select the products.
