If you do not have one, get one. Get two. Get several. You can never have enough bow pens.
I have three – one from a drafting set my Grandfather used – one from a set my Father used, and one from a cheap eBay buy. The first two are best, the last adequate. Whenever I use them they remind me of my ancestors, and I am happy.
They line and colour – take paint or ink – and are infinitely adaptable. I expect one day to be able to counterfeit $ 50 notes using one, but I’d appreciate it if you would keep that from the authorities.
Grandfather’s pen did the internal geodesic structure for the Wellington with the current contents of the Grey/Silver bottle. That paint bottle will change as the year wears on, and may be brighter or duller by December. It is a gypsy stew of grey and silvers that cannot be bought ready-made. I daresay it could have sisters – a grey/blue pot or a brown/red pot. I must experiment.
Is it a complete interior? No. It is all I got for my money – but as I paid very little, I am satisfied. When I build the new-moulded Airfix Wimpy, there will be a lot more and I can make use of what I have learned so far.
