Polikarpov I-16 – Part Two – Dia uno

First club day working on the Academy Polikarpov and the job is flying along!

There are fewer parts to this aircraft than the ICM 1:72 version but the contours are much the same. It is odd to find such a large scale ( for me ) with so little cockpit detail. But then again, so little of he cockpit can be seen from the pilot’s opening that it really doesn’t matter.

The dashboard decal did not fit, but the detailed panel could be painted using it as a reference. If you had an endoscope you could see it…

The fuselage fit is fine, but I suspect a little shrinkage as there are wing-root gaps. Minor adjustment and no really hard work.

The tail planes fit perfectly and the tabs keep them level as they set. I have a real little aircraft after one morning and the future days will be spent refining and decorating.
