Dornier Do 27 – Part One – The Plastic Baggie

The title image for this little kit is a little dull – it is taken from the monochrome instruction sheet as there was no box to the kit.

It is a legacy kit bought from a stash and even in its heyday, probably was not a major-factory product. I have tried to get a line on HUMA Modelle and the closest I get is a street address in Hanau in Hesse. It would appear from the forums that even purchasers in Germany have trouble contacting them. I have seen one other HUMA kit in a local hobby shop but it has lain un-bought for years.

Still, as soon as I saw the magen decals I remembered that this was a possibility for my Israeli air museum and I grabbed it – the price was very reasonable.

The moulding seems of quite a good standard, both in white and clear styrene. The instruction sheet is basic, but clear, and the various colour schemes are adequately suggested. I will still study photos of the real thing at Hatzerim to get the camo right.

I hope there is some visual colour reference for the interior as the aircraft has full seating and quite a lot of window to see through.
