Not the RAF Few – the Dutch few – few made and few supplied. An export order from France.

This Azur kit has fallen into my eager hands through a stash sale and is everything that the proper Czech short-run kit should be; obscure, and composed of styrene plastic, acetate, brass and polyester resin.

The sprue trees look sharp, with few areas of flash. The clear part is fine – the resin engine and wheels all that could be asked for – though the decision to provide them as a separate resin set is puzzling – there is plenty of room on the sprue trees. Nevertheless, the kit should build fine.

Instructions are the usual caution, but the decal sheet looks good. The provision of the Dutch markings as well as the French means a very specific photo can be reproduced. Of course the problem of the three-colour French camouflage still exists, but one day this will be solved cheaply.

Another Armée de l’Air gem in the making.
