Is the step-mother of invention.
With cheapness as a sibling – how could I resist the temptation to rebuild the modelling desk. The old one featured a wall of Chinese take-away food containers that held tools and materials – they were hot-glued to a sheet of foam board gaffer-taped to the workbench. No expense spared because no expense was ever contemplated…
It was getting manky as the hot glue gave way so today saw a piece of pegboard from Bunnings bolted to the bench and double the amount of food containers fastened to it as holding boxes.
The containers are slung off the peg board on regular wire hooks so they can be replaced or re-positioned as needed. There is a whole 1/3 of the board deliberately left unfilled – I do not know what other new items I will need to rack and am keeping my options open.
Years of running my own surgery and dental lab on a shoestring gave me a deliberate approach to the workshop business.
Note that not every tool or material that was kept in the old system made it to the new one. If I have not used something for a decade, it is foolish to rack it for another one.
