My Prince will come…
Oh, wait, that was Disney; this is Airfix. Well the Hunter at dry fit was one of the best experiences in the hobby. Not a bit of flash and the locating pins were in just the right position. It snapped together at the club so satisfyingly that I could just get on with the wings, tanks, and rockets without spending hours grinding away at seams.
Two tiny sink marks – this was Airfix of the 90’s after all, but they were dotted in with dissolved putty and will sand off tomorrow in 2 minutes.
I had taken the time before the club meeting to beat out a sliver of musket ball and it dropped into the nose perfectly. The cockpit floor and seat were well-cast but bare. the Pilot will definitely be required to give some interest to the office under the clear canopy.
And then to home for the wings and tail surfaces. both sets slotting so precise that no bracing was required during cementation.
Day Two will see undercoating and possibly a start on the colour coats. It is simple but elegant.
