A smaller scale than I generally work with, but capable of real revelations.
The Mig -29 appears in a lot of photos and artwork – and on videos of air shows and various combats. It always looks impressive – and massive. But building this model after completing the Sukhoi Su-22 has shown me how small it actually is.

It will be fascinating when I get to the USAF F-15 to compare the size of what must be air-superiority fighters. And I may well look out a 1/72 scale kit eventually.

The only drawback for this build occurred with the painting – while I was delighted with the undercoat and the light grey over-all clolour, the camouflage grey/green seems to have come out too light. This is annoying, as the plane was masked and sprayed to the pattern.

The masking is not soft-edged – that would have been silly in this scale. I used tape, putty, and Maskol to delineate and as it was a thin spray there are no contour ridges, I am delighted with the pattern – just not the colour.

Well, that has not stopped me from enjoying the week. The model sits on a double-sided foam tape block at the top of the Airfix stand and is perfectly secure. I will place it at the club next to the Su-22 and peel another Fifty Center off the stash shelf.
