At a scale model competition there are certain conventions and rules:
a. Models must be actually there. No good going around telling people how good you are. They are better at assessing you than you are.
b. You enter your model in a specific division. There are 35,000 of these so it pays to be near the front of the line when the doors open. Plan on camping on the doorstep for about a week.
c. The sci-fi entries will frighten the rest of the competitors. In their turn, the sci-fi people are nervous when they see hot rods. No-one has adequately explained this. It may be pheromones.
d. You might find it wise to read the rules before entering. Think again…you needed to read them before you bought the kit. Indeed, wise modellers plan about a decade ahead.
You may think that this gives the contest organisers too much time to change the regulations.
Relax. They have your best interests at heart. And changes will be to improve the fairness and transparency of the whole procedure.
Trust them. They’re from the scale model government.
e. The medals awarded for the contest will be priceless. You can confirm this by trying to sell one.
