Seahawk HH-60H – Part Two – Crows Nest Pass

It’s about as close to the sea as Kalgoorlie…

But when the military sell off their old aircraft, the local fire authorities get a chance to pick up some useful heavy lifters for the fire fighting role.

Queensland has them – so to other states. Why not sell a few to Alberta and strip off the parts that were dedicated to ASW or air/sea rescue…and then buy a water tank to sling under the fuselage. Add a water suction hose and a pump and you are all set to fight local forest fires.

You can ignore the bits of Turtle Mountain and other peaks that are above the tree line. Just keep the engines in good condition and fly to the lower slopes when the fire season starts. Dump and fill as long as the crews can hold out.

Airframe hours? Maintenance log books? Provincial employment hours regulations?

No. One. Cares.

Fly and fight.
