We Need A Dedicated Decal Printer

The internet is always going on about 3D printing and the way it will revolutionise the hobby.

Some people have these devices and do wonders with commercial programs and models. Yet the same facility is not extended to the decal makers – we are thrown back on commercial inkjet or laser printers. Or we order decal sets from specialist makers at high prices.

Note: the cost of postage often exceeds that of the decal set. No wonder we try the inkjet route.

Now I am the first to say ” do it ” when the design needed has dark letters or patterns. But I’ve found out by bitter experience that you cannot print yellows and some reds effectively…and white letters not at all. There is no white ink for an inkjet printer.

The ALPS printers that did print white are out of production and getting rarer on the s/h market. But they were always expensive in the first place.

Brother, Epson, Canon, and Hewlett Packard have a real opportunity to throw put a small product that would take off…a white letter printer that can make an A4 page. Even at expensive ink prices, we will buy it.
