Academy C118 Liftmaster – Part One – A Deliberate Choice

Having been given a number of 1:144th scale aircraft and successfully completed them…I have decided the scale is a good thing.

My main collection is 1:72, of course, but many aircraft are just not made in this size. If they are, the larger ones like transports and bombers become behemoths that devour display space. It is sensible to shift down a gear and make larger models in a smaller scale.

Academy have never disappointed – nor have Italeri, for that matter. Therefore I have purchased the C 118 to make it in one of the many schemes presented.

Quite frankly, I fancy the Republic Of China’s presidential plane for the simple graphics and striking colour. The basic structure should go together well, and make a good foundation for the finish. There will be a lot of bare metal.

Still a flying model rather than on the tarmac? Perhaps, as propeller discs are a lot easier to fit than tiny fine props. These would make a great option if the manufacturers would mould them on the clear sprue tree!
