All Aboard!

The business of scale model photography needs only a few basic components; light, a camera, and a scale model. Everything else is just commentary.

But what commentary…As you’ll observe in the heading image, there are models sourced from eight different makers or genres. There are three different scales seen – and three layers of image on one Photoshop document. What you cannot see is the cups of coffee and Tim Tam biscuits that were needed to sustain the operator in the gruelling work.

Make no mistake – you can skimp on the models – you can economise on the camera and the lens – but you absolutely cannot do without the coffee and biscuits or cookies. Human ingenuity does not run on air and water – it needs caffeine and sugar.

Those people who saw Little World posts on the weblog column ” Here All Week” over the last five years may find that some of the topics on this new column are seeming repeats. There will be information that was shared before, but there has been five years of additional development since then and things have improved. If you go back to the old columns and compare the new writing, rest assured that I was perfectly correct then and  have become even more perfectly correct now. And it can only improve…

Note: if this new column gets off the ground long enough for the flaps to be raised and the seat-belt sign switched off, I may find myself changing the appearance of the header or the background – but I will always try for clear illustration and the simplest format. It is not good taste on my part – it is the inability to do graphic design.
