Make a lemon meringue pie. SImple. This meme business is getting tame…
When the world gives you MDF board, Foamcore sheets, and old pieces of matt board you have more of a challenge. The thing to realise about it is that the ingredients essentially cost pennies and anything you do with them raises the value 100-fold.
In my case I needed a new 1:72 hangar and air terminal. Not a lot of people can say that, but those of us who can realise that we are either going to have to be rich or get busy. I chose the latter.
The concrete base for the two structures is 3mm MDF. The basic walls 5mm Foamcore. The framing is off-cuts and old wood strip, and the roofing is thick drafting board from the art shop. All the paints are from standard bottles of leftovers here in the Little Workshop, and I can cheerfully say that the entire thing has ended up being under $ 15 to build. A week’s work in pleasant surroundings and with the knowledge that nearly anything can be done if you set to it cheerfully.
The hangar is big because the planes that it will house are big. The terminal will have a crowd of small cars in the car park and a horde of travellers in the forecourt and waiting room if I can locate a cheap source of small figures. It serve Canadian Pacific Airlines, Trans Canada Airlines, and Prairie Airways. You carry your own luggage.
AIr security is taken care of by Bruce The Agent who looks at people with a funny expression on his face. Few care to argue with Bruce.
