The Airport Under The Tree

Now that we are approaching Christmas – warily – it is time to put up the tree with the traditional toy train set circling underneath it. But for those of us who build different little worlds we have some alternative suggestions:

a. Santa’s Little Airport.

CIrcular runway and an airliner with a severe right bank trying to take off from it. Scope for full terminal buildings and a pie-shaped hangar.

b. The Battle Of Christmas.

A chance for the armour enthusiasts to get out their Russian and German tanks and AFV’s and sprinkle them with baking powder to represent snow. Ingenious modellers will rig up little lights to represent burning tanks and scatter bodies over the baking powder.

c. My Little Missile Base

ICBM modellers rarely get a chance to have their creations featured in a holiday mood. Festoon your Thor, Atlas, and Titan missiles with tinsel and hang coloured lights on the SS-18 mobile battery as it circles the tree. Your lounge room can be Ground Zero for a week. Or forever…

d. The Wreck Of The SS YULETIDE

Don’t think that if you are a ship modeller that you’ll be left out. Whether you decide to have your Christmas vessel deserted and forever circling the tree or wrecked on the pile of presents, you can be sure that the family will never forget it.

It has also been pointed out that racing car modellers could have a Scalextric set circle the tree and races scheduled for Christmas Eve. This sounds like too much fun for the season. We suggest the addition of a 1:32 Multinova and severe fines for anyone exceeding the limit. In addition, alcohol testing and arrests could be conducted half-way through the evening.

Dollhouse makers are generally pretty tame, until they get to a dollhouse show and see the trade tables, but. They need to think outside of the square for Christmas. The heading image is a 1:12 scale bawdy house, and we can do no better than to encourage the proliferation of small-scale vice in the community.
