Workmates

I seem to have a number of workmates in the Little Workshop. I daresay they have taken shelter there in the winter and become accustomed to the place. How they cope with the soaring temperatures in the summer is another question, but there are cool places in the garden that they could migrate to.

None of them have red backs, which means they can stay. They seem to have been successful in trapping some of the other invaders, so that is a good thing. I shall inspect the webs periodically – if they start stealing parts from the model kits I’ll have to reconsider their leases.

What I would really like to see is geckos, or a resident bob-tail goanna. They are perfect for vermin cleanup and never make nuisances of themselves. The Little Workshop door is not open enough to encourage birds, though there has been a Willy Wagtail that makes internal circuits every so often. Mostly they hop on the roof, with the crows.

I am also going to have to do Redback patrol now, to make sure that the underside of the workbench is safe for legs. If I find them I’ll have to swat rather than spray – out of deference to the other web-mates.
