The B25 Mitchell is complete – the lead ship of my Northwest Staging Route air convoy. It’s not in Soviet colours – this one will be based in Alaska for defence of the Aleutians.
The USAAF basic scheme is really very simple – Olive Drab on the top and Neutral Grey on the bottom, with suitable insignia and a serial on the tail. Crews later embellished the noses with whatever they could get away with, but I am sending this fresh bomber north in pristine condition. They can paint it to idle away the long winter nights.

The delineation of the seams and plate lines on the top of the wing is somewhat more obvious than in many of my builds. This was because the Olive Drab paint was sprayed on a little thinner than usual and has settled into the panel lines. I’m happy it has worked out well, but will probably be mixing thicker in the future.

As it worked out, I say three cheers for the canopy painting with the bow pen. Airfix do a good canopy on their modern models and the darker colours delineate the frames well. Silver frames are aways a little problematical.

Three cheers for the Army Air Force. A cheer and a half for Alaska.
