Martin Marauder B-26 – Part Two – Two Bit Model

A bit of a come-down from yesterday, but today I started the kit and discovered why Airfix had a bad reputation a decade ago.

a. Two short shots.

b. One missing part.

c. An extra tailplane.

d. More flash than a Marvel comic.

I am not all that nonplussed, though I have be plussier before….I’ve cobbled up the missing bulkhead from sheet styrene and a length of tubing and will repair the short shots when the fuselage is closed.

I did google the business of getting Airfix to replace faulty or missing parts but the reports from other modellers was not encouraging – and I do not want to make enemies of my local hobby shop over such trivia. As I said before, get me within knife and sandpaper range and I’ll sort it out.

In case you were wondering if the bluff object in the heading image was the leading edge or the trailing edge, I have decided it is the latter, as there are ailerons on it…
