Avia S-199 – Part Three – What Colour Is The Colour Of An Argument?

Answer: Whatever colour you ask about in a modeller’s paint forum.

I went to my computer to google someone else’s opinion about the grey/green colour of an S-199 in Israeli service. I encountered scholarly works that deteriorated into name-calling and vulgarity. I did not see any profile pictures of the writers but I can pretty well guess at their appearance. Think real-ale darts champions in tee-shirts writing from the basement.

In the end I went to the image section and looked at the remaining S-199 at Hatzerim. Repainted recently, and about as good a guess as anyone’s. So I started out with Middle Stone lacquer, added green, and went with that. I’m sure a local farbexpert will pipe up that it is incorrect but I shall not listen.

I’m hoping my supply of Magen David decals will hold out for this one.
