Our heading image is very close to the version of the Wellington Mk 1C that I am building, though in the case of this plane it has the later grey and grey/green upper works rather than the green/brown. But it provides painting hints that Italeri have left out of their instructions, so I am grateful. Also grateful for this internet find:

I won’t be opening the side window, but I’m glad to see that otherwise I am on the right track. A nice hard white/camo demarcation.
I note as well as the external representation of the geodesic framework, that there is a moulding on the inside. Unfortunately no other internal structure save the cockpit area, so this back area will be painted a dull brown/red ( Apparently they were. ) and left to its own devices.

There’s the cutout for the side gunner’s window if I wanted it but no glazing and no geodesic framework or decal representation behind it. Maybe when I do the Airfix Wellington as an RCAF land bomber I’ll go the whole hog.

The wings have cemented well and the surface patterning is superb.

I’m a little less sanguine about the decision to mould a separate engine core and cylinders, though I’m happy to say they did go together fairly well – but they will not go into the nacelles without sanding down the cylinder heads. And then it will all be hidden behind that questionable front plate…

Still, I’ll consider myself lucky if the turrets look acceptable. Note I have left off air scoops until later – like aerials, exhausts, and guns they tend to get broken in the early stages. I have tested the turrets and found that they can be rolled into their sockets after the plane is painted – this saving some horrendous masking.
