And isn’t that the motto of the times…
Carrying on from yesterday, in the face of bad weather and with the desire to sit inside in the warm…I looked out all my old leftover cans of paint and texture material – the spare fences leftover from doll hoses and railway layouts – and the fake trees. No money spent out…just using up what’s already in the model pantry.

All the ingredients went into the pot and four of the display trays were the result. One for the IAF, one for the VVS, One for the RAAF. And one undecided. Tomorrow they go to the studio and we start to fit them into the IKEA cabinets.

If it is a success, more foam board will be purchased. I have so many leftovers that I should be able to decorate a dozen of the things. They are simple and all it needs is a little texture or structure to break the 2D stage. As the planes go on I will add some vehicles or small structures for garnish.

The stages are not big enough for four-engine ships. Even the Israeli Catalina will be too larger for the concept – more thinking needed. But they should prove admirable for twins and single engine fighters of the WWII and post-war period. Might be a little crowded for Phantoms, F-15’s etc.
