Kit makers are always trying for another use of a previous model. The tricks of new decal sheet and box art plus a hike in price mean that even if you have not invested any money in a new cash cow, you can milk the old one again.
The problem is there are only so many variants you can make from an ME 109 or FW 190. The market has been saturated with them for years and your old rivet kit will be hard to sell at any price.

The schemes are colourful, which sells to the easily attracted. The planes are converted wartime and civilian ones but carry no stigma of war. They are current and exciting.
It’s money for jam – or for fire retardant.
