Lockheed RT 33 – Part Four – Don’t Mind If I Do

For all my tootling about over the use of an airbrush, I finally have to confess that there are times when a rattle can is a comfort. Painting the walls of the Police Station, for instance. You try dragging a compressor there in the middle of the night and asking the desk sergeant for the use of a power cord – not easy.

The Lockheed RT-33 is metamorphosing into a CF-133 today. The bare metal of the USAF or the bright orange and yellow of the Italian Air Force were ignored – a pure white finish was needed for the RCAF Snowbird hack aircraft.

I was very cheered when I looked in the paint stores and found a spray can of Mr. Color Character White that was 3/4 full. This is the same white that I use on Coastal Command aircraft and it can also be applied via a standard brush from the bottle. I ‘m not a white expert but it always seems to have clear tone.

Thank goodness for the fact that the CT-133 has a single tailpipe and a dowel can be stuffed up it for a handle. I got a box of small vinyl gloves from a friend who has ham hands and I can fit in them – I could hold the Lockheed like an aerial lollypop and spray all surfaces in turn.

I must also note that there was practically NO filler needed for this Sword model – putting to shame the complaints that some video reviewers may make about the brand.
