Or you just git.
The internet is a wonderful place to see hobby kits and supplies that you cannot obtain. It is not the fault of the hobby shops – they would sell you scale kits of your grandparents if they were obtainable. They are in the unenviable position of not being able to get things before you are denied them. Presumably there are wholesalers similarly frustrated.
What do you do?
A. Buy from someone overseas with no assurance of anything except a horrendous shipping cost.
B. Buy from someone interstate with a similar assurance and a marginally worse courier delivery system.
C. Buy what you can from local bargain sales. This is fine if they are indeed bargains but frequently the prices asked are very little less than those in legitimate shops. Kits may not be complete or undamaged.
D. Buy what is in the shops. This quickly runs you away from your comfort zone but may have the unexpected benefit of introducing you to a new genre of modelling.
E. Buy a plan and raw materials. This will extend the time needed for production of a model dramatically and reduce the precision and finish quality. Oddly enough, you will be ever so much more pleased with the result than if you had built the finest expensive kit.
F. Spend your modelling time telling other people that you can’t get the kit you want and have lost enthusiasm. Make excuses with the same care you once exercised in making models.
